In 1979, our family business started with a spare bedroom and a passion for quality headwear. Importing hats from around the world and supplying retailers across the country. Then came the internet, and with it, a new opportunity. Now over 45 years later Wholesale Hats is a global supplier of custom embroidered hats, working with thousands of customers, worldwide.

At Wholesale Hats, we believe that embroidery is an art form that demands precision, skill, and passion. Early on we discovered that the secret to quality embroidery begins long before the needle touches the fabric. Decades ago Amanda Gordon, our Art Manager, created our logo review process that we still implement today with every customer, every time. This ensures that each customer's logo is optimized for embroidery. This separates us by quality, in an industry where quality varies widely.

The Turning Point

More than 25 years ago, my wife and I were working late on a rush order for Mt. Rose Ski Resort in Lake Tahoe. Our embroidery machine kept breaking due to an overly dense stitch pattern in the center of this rose design. Since it was getting late I stepped out to get dinner, only to return to find my 21-year-old newlywed wife, hands in her face crying and completely overwhelmed by frustration. “I can’t take this anymore,” she said with tears in her eyes, “the needles keep breaking and I don’t know what to do.”

We knew something had to change. That night was the turning point for us and the company. From that experience, we defined our entire processes and built a team of in-house experts who understood how to solve embroidery challenges at the beginning of the process.

• Amanda Gordon, a talented artist we brought on in 2010, specializes in translating graphic designs into embroidery-ready masterpieces—a crucial skill in an industry where most logos are originally designed for print, not thread.
• Jason Wasserman, an ecommerce director with over 25 years experience and a knack for simplifying complex buying processes.
• Nilda Steele, brought on in 2017 to offer expertise to customers with custom embroidery and patch specialist
